Does anyone else recall Sally Brown dictating, “If it all seem a bit too confusing, make it easy on yourself. Just send money. How about tens and twenties?”
My experience with temps has been mixed. I worked with some very good temps on an ad hoc assembly line and they came up with more ways to improve the process than I could ever think of.
My current position is as a result of being a temp. It was supposed to be a 6-week gig to as a technical writer to work on a proposal. In that time I proved that I could do more than write. The 6 weeks lasted 2.5 years in which time I went to Hawaii and Japan, got to travel all over the US, got a rate increase, bonus to stay on until the end of the contract and got paid tons of overtime. I was better off then than I am now as a full-timer.
So don’t knock a temp gig. It’s an opportunity to audition for something bigger.

Those temps would work harder if their jobs were permanent and not seasonal.

If Calvin is speaking for his creator, I can understand why Watterson never got any Christmas presents.

Even when they say seasonal, many will make some workers permanent after the holidays. They always need new people and they can try them out this way.

Calvin should shovel people’s sidewalks when it snows. Oh wait…that would mean he’d be being generous.

Now, now, the simplest solutions are always the best. True, it won’t work in this case, but, hey, it’s always worth the effort…
