All employers do. I worked for ten years for the same company and managed to streamline the operations. After it was done I was made redundant. I made sure I deleted all the software before I left.
Ok, Apparently I didn’t make myself clear, as it seems we agree. I was talking about PROTECTION by the first amendment. It only protects you from the GOVERNMENT in supressing free soeech, NOT from the private sector. You (we) have the right to not work under such conditions.

No, you don’t give up your first amendment rights. The first amendment only applies to the government, not the private sector.
