Take it at face value. It’s meant to be a wish of goodwill. I don’t get all up in arms when someone wishes me “Shalom!” simply because I am not Jewish or because I don’t speak Hebrew. Christians believe that Christ came for the whole world, “…WHOSOEVER believes on Him” (John 3:16-21). Therefore we wish the goodness of Christmas to everyone. Christmas is not a pagan holiday. Brumalia and Saturnalia WERE pagan holidays in the Roman Empire but Christmas is NOT. One reason traditions from some pagan holidays were adapted to Christmas was to make it easier for those involved in pagan religion to convert to Christianity. At the same time, the traditions that were kept were given newer, truer meaning. Evergreens, for example, represented the eternal life offered in Christ and the treetop pointed the viewer to Heaven. If Christianity is true as Christians believe, this is a loving thing to do. If Christians had rejected EVERYthing, then Christians would be criticized for not being sensitive to or adaptable to indigenous culture.

How did the sleigh even fit? A miniature sleigh and eight tiny reindeer, indeed.

Neo Stryder about 11 years ago
Ok Snoopy, if eight reindeer could step over your stomach, then you should worry about how much food you’re eating.
