Readers of FBoFW: Read this from Lynn. Read it again. Read it a THIRD TIME. Copy, Paste into Word, and print it … remember it. Stop complaining about the comic and remember she has a reason for what she does. WE aren’t privileged enough to know it… until she gives us a bit of information via her notes, or the strip...Our parents were adept at making ends meet. Even though we had little to live on, we had everything. In looking back, I can see that we had what mattered most: a solid, caring family, a comfortable home, good friends, and confidence in future. This is what I tried to portray in For Better or for Worse. No matter what happened, there was always something good to look forward to.
Another good laugh at John’s expense. And it is funny=====Well, after all, he made his ‘Santa list’ before he dropped a frozen turkey on his foot… so even though Santa knows all, he can’t be expected to switch presents at the last minute just because someone turned into a klutz….
I don’t think he means it’s complicated. I think he’s as sick as many of us are of the Ellyhaters who assume that everything that goes wrong for John or the kids is because Elly (and Lynn) are terrible creatures who need to be condemned all the time.
People who whine about how John is stupid, Elly is mean/rude/dumb, how Lynn picks on April, or Elizabeth, or Michael, or whomever the person of the day is … just stop. It’s a comic, it’s make believe… much like Santa, The Easter Bunny, or The Boogey Man..If you don’t like what is displayed in the comic … then stop reading. There are those of us, who LIKE this strip, and read it (and some of the comments) because we like to. People who complain about the strip ruin the strip.
“You act like this comic strip is some sort of mystery that can only be unraveled if the author deigns to tell us what it all means in her Lynn’s Notes.”~~~~~~~~~~~~~`Well, given the choice, I’d rather have Lynn’s explanation of what the comic is about than your far-fetched complicated interpretations.
