Chepe: Senator Ted Cruz's papa is a very outspoken pastor... who says god is definitely "pro" death penalty. Pepe: I'm sure god feels that way because it really worked so well for his son.
Though I am no fan of Judeo-Christian Scripture, I seem to remember God condemning Israel over and over again when they went astray. Wright aptly followed suit. Why the strident outcry?
Far be it from me to defend a Protestant preacher’s highly questionable theology, but…So you disagree with Wright when he says we should not confuse God & government? Interesting…Wright has made some wacky accusations of dubious fact, but the general idea was that we should not call for blessings on our government when it engages in immoral behavior. Wright’s grievances are different, but his tone is similar to the Tea Party. In any case, Obama left Wright’s church & denounced his controversial statements. What will Ted Cruz do about his Padre’s comments?
Padre Cruz has said some other foolish controversial things:He thinks Christians should hold dominion over “every area: society, education, government, and economics.” He thinks we are approaching the end-times & God is seizing the wealth of the wicked & giving it to his followers. Padre Cruz feels women have usurped mens’ authority in the home & that gay marriage & evolutions are tools of Marxism, to destroy God.So far Ted Cruz’s response has been to get a staffer to explain that, “His father does not speak for the Senator.” Not exactly a denunciation.
I’m not defending Wright, I’m comparing Cruz’s religious history to Obama’s.Correct me if I’m wrong, but it seems like what you are doing is trying to deflect attention from Padre Cruz & his son. Obama denounced Wright’s controversial statements. Cruz has been mum on whether he agrees with the things his father preaches. He ain’t gonna be able to ride that fence to the White House.
My point is that Alcaraz doesn’t ever seem to talk about Obama’s connection, past or present, to Wright, but he’ll harp about what some politician’s preacher-dad thinks. Why are you talking about what happened in 2008 other than to distract from what looks like a big problem for Cruz? Quit hiding from the topic of the ‘toon.I doubt that Lalo wants to do a ’toon about events from 2008, but he has been PLENTY critical of Obama. Sorry he’s too smart to echo the GOP talking points.Ted Cruz isn’t just ‘some politician’. Some folks are saying he should be the next President. It’s a reasonable assumption to think the father’s beliefs influence the son’s.
Thank you, Uncle Joe! I couldn’t have said it better. The thought of President Cruz is too frightening to contemplate. I don’t believe that will happen, though. The Senate finally censured Joseph McCarthy, after he had wreaked so much havoc and ruined so many lives and they will the do the same for his doppelganger, Ted Cruz. The American people will not abide such a demagogue for very long.

Wright was right when he saw America’s need for a little damning and wrong that there is a god around to do it.

There’s a difference between being raised by a man and attending his services once a week.

Interesting. Seems the point might be something other than what has been posted here.
