Phoebe and Her Unicorn by Dana Simpson for November 15, 2013
Transcript:
Marigold: You never did practice. Phoebe: I really meant to! One I started putting it off, I couldn't stop. What's the word for when you want to roll something partway down a hill, but it rolls all the way down and crushed the town? Marigold: There exists no such word. Phoebe: Tomorrow let's invent a word!

“Inertia” (the inherent “laziness” of matter, the tendency of matter to remain either at rest or in motion—depending on which one it’s doing at the moment—unless acted upon by another force) would work for Phoebe’s purposes.

I thing a proper word for what Pheobe described would be “Oops…”
ewalnut about 11 years ago
The word you’re looking for is $%@#!
Simon_Jester about 11 years ago
Actually, there IS a word for that situation, but Phoebe’s mom will ground her for a month if she hears her using it

…runaway train comes to mind…

“The word is ‘Sisyphus.’”“What did you call me?”

Why do I find Marigold peeking through the window so cute?
Stephen Gilberg about 11 years ago
It’s neither standard nor reverse Sisyphus syndrome. He rolled the rock up and it came down. Phoebe rolled a rock down and it went too far down.BTW, is Phoebe’s bedroom on the first floor, or has Marigold demonstrated her climbing skills again?
Masterius about 11 years ago
I think the term she’s looking for is “Progress”.

In other words, by putting it off, she gathered… ‘procrastomentum’!

Dragonized. Once you start crushing things, it’s hard to stop when you’re a 600 foot dragon.
