Arlo and Janis by Jimmy Johnson for December 03, 2013

Transcript:
Janis: See! There are lots of movies for rent on demand!
Janis: "Thousands of great films and TV shows, from $2.99!"
Arlo: You used the "F" word!
Janis: What?!
Arlo: "From."
The seven-year-old IM’d me that she had heard Charlie Brown say the “bad s word.” I asked her mother about it via email, and learned that the bad “s” word is “stupid.” Her mom discourages the use of this word.
Well, I, for one, love pay-for-view. Even $4.99 to $5.99 is a cheap price to pay to watch first run movies in the comfort of ones own home. Put my “jamies” on, a snack plate and a glass of wine, curl up on the couch with my honey, plus I don’t have to return the movie! Life is good!

That means more than just $2.99. He wants the other “F” word., which is “FREE”. There’s no such thing as a freebie. You pay for it, sooner or later.

Plus, they show a lot of movies that aren’t available on DVD, or Blu-Ray. It’s my favorite channel.

I don’t think he wants free. I just think he dislikes the way marketing uses the word “from”.

Did everyone see Soup to Nutz for Nov. 30? A different F-word.

$2.99 is just a little bit cheaper than $12.50 at the theater. (and, psst, they won’t pause there during a refill…)

I keep intending to see a movie in the theaters only to notice it is on TV before I get around to it.

I thought the “F-word” was “film”. Janis really dated herself by calling it that.

Anything that you actually like will be more than the basic “F”

For $2.99 you get the likes of Ernest Saves Christmas if you want the good stuff, it’ll cost.

Excluding Les Mis last year, don’t think I have been to a theatre in five years.
