Arlo and Janis by Jimmy Johnson for December 19, 2013
December 18, 2013

Transcript:
Arlo: Gosh, Superman. Thanks! You saved our lives!
Arlo: Jimmy, lots. I'm just glad I was here to help!
Arlo: Clark, where have you been? You missed all the excitement again!
There was a scene in the 50s Superman tv show where Superman lost his memory trying to break up a meteor and when he somehow got home looking like Clark Kent, he collapsed Jimmy and Lois found him and put him to bed WITHOUT his glasses, yet they were talking to him like he was Clark Kent. All I could say was “HELLO?? DOESN’T HE LOOK LIKE SOMEONE ELSE TO YOU??”
I remember an episode of one of the Batman animated series where Bruce Wayne slyly commented that one superhero hid his identity with glasses alone. His protege just rolled his eyes in disbelief.
In one Superman issue it was revealed that Clark Kent’s glasses actually magnifies his subconscious desire to make people see Clark Kent as a different person from Superman. The idea was that it was a from of hynotism and the affect was magnified by the Kryptonian lenses in his glasses. I don’t see how something like that would actually work, but it does explain why no one sees Superman when they look at Clark Kent.

I kind of figured Arlo would only be wearing his corrective lenses while watching TV and staring at Janis getting undressed.

To Arianne, thanks for your kind words. Although this December makes three years, it is still hard to cope with Christmas.
