Brutus: How was it at the mall today?
Gladys: A madhouse - no parking spots, huge crowds, everyone rushing the registers with presents...
Gladys: Except today, they were returning the presents - kind of like Black Friday in reverse!
I once was in a jeweler’s shop when a woman tried to return a €1000 ring she had received from her parents (or parents-in-law, can’t remember). The shop owner didn’t want to give her a refund in cash, only another piece of jewelry of the same price. The argument in front of all other customers was very embarrassing. I would have taken her to a private office to discuss the matter.By the way, according to Dutch law the shop owner was right (although most shops will give a refund, they only HAVE to do so for defective merchandise), but still, showing this attitude in front of other customers.. I left without buying anything.
It is called BOXING DAY in Canada. Sadly the damn American’s have ruined our big sale day, with their stupid “Black Friday”. Now our sales are just 10% of retail. (Used to be 50%-70% on Boxing Day.)
“Black Friday” has turned into 1-2 month long sale of stuff (which really isn’t on sale, it’s just marked up and then put on sale at regular price, for the most part.)Stores in Canada have started “Weekly Black Friday” sales … to compete with American Stores… and WalMart/Target in Canada have started upping the regular prices of things in September, so when December rolls around, the “sales” look great. (i.e. a TV in Aug that would have cost $599, shows as "On Sale $599 / Reg $999) or something like that.)

The nice thing about the restaurant business is: No-one returns food
=====You must work in a very good restaurant, because people DO return food in a sit down restaurant,if they don’t think it was cooked the right way….
