Of my 4 children, I only had one who actually took an interest in keeping his room clean and neat. If I didn’t know better, I’d think he had a different parent. He married a woman who is just as compulsively clean (and went nuts when I visited them with my cockatoo). But she still scrubs her floors on her knees (even though she works as a court reporter and he’s a vice-pres in a large company).
My housecleaning is mostly just wipe up anything that spills and it isn’t dirty unless I know it is. I just try to always keep on top of things so I don’t spend any significant time cleaning when there are fun things to do.
