why does she talk to Arlo on the phone when she is on her walks??? she does it a lot, check past strips. can’t just enjoy the moment in quite but has to call about it. weird. ay least she seems resigned to Gene’s death cause she never mentions her only child’s name anymore.
Thank you Jimmy for your fine example of someone actually being observant of nature whilst on a walk. And no, I’m not being snide. I live out in a rural area and spend time outdoors almost every night. Closest neighbor is 2km away, but I can hear him easily when the plonker is yelling at his dogs.
One of my aunts talks very quietly. She explained it is because she is so close to deaf that everything sounds quiet and she doesn’t want to disturb the peace and serenity.-Another is also nearly deaf and yells because she can’t hear herself yelling.
I had a nice long walk today — it wasn’t as cold as they said it was (as long as you stayed in the sun). Temp was about 13, but in the sun, the thermometer said 30 — so I gave it a try and the t-meter was right.

Am I reading too much into the art to see a reference to the 1939-40 New York World’s Fair? Specifically, the Trylon and Perisphere in the last panel.

As the serenity is blasted open by the sounds of plows, snowblowers and neighbors cursing.

Isn’t there a poem about am an asking to hear God’s voice? The birds sang, but the man didn’t hear them. In this case, let the snow speak.

It’s -7 right now in southeastern Wisconsin, “feels like” -19. Not too many people out for walks this morning.

Rudy loves this weather, he watches the birds while laying down by the patio door…a nice cold and quiet morning

Not always. We see my son and daughter-in-law just about every weekend or so.
