Why on Earth would anyone even want to train a pigeon to tell whether a painting was by either Monet or Picasso? it’s not like the knowledge would do the birds any good. And I can see no scientific necessity for conducting such a study.

The eating of droppings is not a believe it or not type item, so many animals do it. Horses do it all the time, and one of the best treatments for chronic intestinal conditions is a stool transplant.

Young foals all eat poo, and adult horses that have colic do the same; a healthy gut flora is essential for all mammals.

I don’t recall Monet drawing bulls or having a “blue” period. The two artists are pretty dissimilar, I wonder what the birds see in it?
