I wouldn’t mind politics (Johnny Hart was fun) if there was actually any humor or even any point to a strip. Salt and pepper shakers furloughing your brunch????! I suspect readers here could come up some actually funny punch lines for this.
No offense to the current creative team, but I sorta feel like this strip lost its steam in the 1970s. Used to be doing a newspaper strip was the height of the profession…but now there are so many tired old strips still slogging along, and dynamic creators like Bill Watterson pack it in out of frustration, and even comics in perpetual reruns…I wish newspapers would wake up and remember that the comics used to be a circulation booster, back when they were good enough for people to give a damn about them.

Since I am from Holland, I don’t even know what furloughing is…

@Harry, in 2013 many US federal workers were given unpaid days off because of budget issues.

But if you wait long enough, they’ll end up extending brunch. Again. Hold the saltpeter, err, hold the salt, Peter.

I just was watching the news… For the first time in history, more than 50% of congress are millionaires.

I’m relieved to see that none of you get it either. Maybe BC is shooting for the “Zippy” crowd?

OK, we actually keep some of the original dialog. First two panels the same. Last panel: “I can’t tell the left from the right.”

This strip’s been slowly losing steam for years. It’s been fun guys, but I’m gone.
