I was expecting a “Susie-sent-it-to-Hobbes” gag.

It’s too early for Valentine! There are some days to wait!

It’s the last Sunday before Valentine though.

It won’t be long when Calvin trades in Hobbes for a Suzy

Considering Calvin and Susie have always been six, I think we’d be waiting quite a while for a wedding.

Calvin has a hellofa arm. Knocked her out of her boots AND mittens.

Thinking of what actually happened here makes my head hurt.

I think Bill Watterson has a sibling who did something like this to him. This had to have happened to him or he did it to his brother or sister.

Natural studliness. I should use that line.

Actually, Susie begged Watterson to end the strip before Susie and Calvin got married.

…hobbes, it was all funny until suzie got hit in the face with a slushball (that hurts – i know from experience) – he shouldn’t have let it get that far…i’m a little surprised at hobbes this time…

Hobbes is a stuffed animal. Calvin makes him move.

The ol’ forged Valentine trick. That’s the oldest trick in the Valentine book, or book of Valentines, or Valentine to books. I love books.

Panel #4 is so descriptively intense, you can feel the panic along with Calvin. Either Bill Watterson has kids, or he has a very vivid sense of recollection. In any case, the level of talent he exudes in his craft, has my utmost respect.

Calvin will have to catch Hobbes first. Haha I think it’s odd that Susie still talks to Calvin or even wants to be around him considering how mean he is to her.

Indeed … that expression on Hobbes’ face in panel six is classic. Made me laugh out loud.

Just love Hobbes’ expressions in panels 6 and 11 ….!

The timing of this Sunday strip relative to February 14 was from the original distribution, not 2013. Although, the strip is dated 2/9 – but that may also be the republishing date.

If the valentine was “actually” written by Calvin (since all Hobbes’ actions are only his imagination), it would have been to provide himself a reason to plaster Susie. But it’s all Watterson’s imagination, to entertain us. And what a wonderful job he’s done! Though I hope it’s the artwork that entertains and not the idea of manufacturing a reason to plaster Susie with a snowball.

I can’t believe she didn’t beat the snot out of him!

Yeah, Hobbes will be seeing stars all right! — going about their apparent paths in the sky around the Earth, like they do every night! Weather permitting, of course! o:-D
