Perhaps English is a second language for LX013 or perhaps he/she is a product of the “Open Court” method of teaching. It was taught to my youngest and when I tried to correct her she told me that spelling didn’t matter as long as the letters made the sound of the word. She found out in college that spelling does matter….
On the other hand she is great deciphering vanity plates!
Calvin’s snow art is some of my favorite C&H strips. If a real child at his age had his vocabulary, creative imagination, and artistic ability he/she would be considered a genius..Maybe a “headhunter” will see him and give him a contract. (couldn’t resist.)
Yes, Calvin’s neighborhood seems quite bereft of other children, except for Susie, and there’s no indication as to her proximity to Calvin’s home except that she lives close enough to walk to (for an ambush) and there are improved sidewalks for them to play on. All other kids their age are a bus ride away at their school.Calvin doesn’t have any other mentoring grownups and his own father plays with his head. This, along with his social isolationism is just what our little Asperger’s case needs for his budding personality. Thank goodness this is way before they would have drugged him.
Well they have neighbors, though they’re not seen that I can remember. Susie has to come from somewhere. And Roslyn the sitter too. They live on a street with sidewalks, that Calvin sometimes populates with snow goons. -——————————-I just don’t think that Watterson believes that the universe outside his characters is as interesting as they are.
Welcome to all of the “visitors” here who are trying to improve themselves by testing their understanding and use of a new / foreign language. Thank you for understanding that some others here seem to be unable to “share” their grammatical knowledge in a less-than pedantic, pejorative manner (despite their purported “command” of the language). Most of us enjoy and welcome your participation…come back anytime !

So, Calvin in the end is helping to beautify the neighborhood….

If this were being drawn today, Calvin’s mom would have probably created a Tumblr called “My Son’s Creepy Snowmen.” And it would be going viral.

Eyja and Bluram. The snowman appears to be an explorer who has stumbled upon a headhunter’s cookpot and is aghast at the sight. I think.
