Being a guy, I guess one reason women want us to go so shopping with them is to carry all the purchased items (as in from the store to the car and from the car to the interior of the house upon returning from store).

Nothing like that. They just know they can’t leave us home alone and unsupervised.

Ah yes, the “mom questions” that are not questions. Like “Would you like to clean up your room?” or “Could you take out the trash?” means “Do it, and do it now.” Then there are the other non-questions that are deadly to answer, such as “Do you know what time it is?” (Translation: you are dead meat), “Do you think I’m stupid?”, or the worst, “Why were you ever born?” I once foolishly started to answer that one: “Well, if you and Dad hadn’t…” POW!!

Actually, I enjoy shopping with my wife. I give all credit for that to her. She doesn’t shop like many women of my acquaintance. She is no browser. She does not shop for shopping sake. She knows what she wants, and she goes looking for it in a logical manner. I never feel like its a waste of time. Once she finds it, we’re done.

As a result, I actually look forward to Saturdays because that’s our shopping day. We get out and spend some quality time together. It’s really a rather inexpensive date because she would have spent that money whether I was there or not. It doesn’t cost us extra for me being there, and I get to influence what she purchases.

Not me. If my husband comes along it takes twice as long and I spend twice as much.

I never take my husband with me shopping. I don’t understand why women do that and I don’t go with him on the rare times he goes clothes shopping for himself. I did that once and he got nearly hysterical, saying I was “pushing clothes” at him. He ran out the door and left me at the check out counter. The clerk said that wasn’t unusual and that some men won’t even come into the store. The wife takes clothes out to the car to show him . He decides and she pays for them. Go figure.

Actually, we go shopping for groceries together, as well. We enjoy it for the same reasons I listed above.

Anytime I get a question like that I know that any answer other than “sure” is the wrong answer.

    Yep… That’s normally the case.

Love Opal’s frown in the 3rd panel.

I didn’t realise how lucky I am. My husband and I always grocery shop together. We split up the list, he takes the every-week staples (milk, bread, cheese and like that) and I handle fruit and veg and occasional purchases like laundry detergent and softener. He is also the only man I know who likes to window shop. Not go into a clothing store and “play closet” (I hate that as much as any man could) but literally wander around the old town and look in the shop windows, or go into a favourite place and mouse around.

And please don’t play with the trolls, folks.

I don’t like going shopping with others (sorry), mostly because I am a quick shopper and I’d rather get in, get done and get on with my life. Sometimes if I have extra time or am making it a day trip to the outlets, I enjoy shopping with others, but that doesn’t happen often. And if he doesn’t want to go, I would never force him to go.

Yep, mil makes that claim and it is likely true. (Completely separate from the FACT you can’t put it on the Internet if it isn’t true.)But just because we are trusting. . .
