Wake up! In September 2013, a Florida fisherman jumped into the sea and managed to revive an injured 300 pound bull shark he had just released from a hook! At the 1988 Seoul Olympics, Canadian sailor Larry Lemieux abandoned a race and silver medal position to rescue to stranded competitors- he finished 21st. Football cheerleaders were 100% male before the 1900s!

Larry Lemieux did the right thing, even though it cost him an Olympic medal. I hope that I would have that kind of moral courage.

I’d give Mr. Lemieux a gold medal for being a decent human being!

@ferritt123 – he did get the Pierre de Coubertin Medal for Sportsmanship during the awards ceremony. Additionally, the committee awarded him second place in that race, the position he was in when he deviated from the course.
And yes, the Singapore team was injured when their dinghy tipped and capsized…
He did the right thing. Kind of gives you a little faith back in humanity, huh…

I’m more interested in the kind of guy who revives a shark. “Breathe, my tasty friend!”

Some, but not all, species of sharks need to move constantly to oxygenate through their gills. Some species are able to pump water through their gills while asleep.
