Well, it won’t be as long as season as the team that wins it all. In the NBA, if every bracket took the full 7 games, it would require 135 games. I have no idea how that compares with a team normal season which seems to be from July to June. At any rate, to win, the winning team must win 60 games.
Just a rant on sports: the regular season in any sport means nothing. Teams that barely break a 500 record make the playoffs. It doesn’t matter how good you play all year. All that matters is if you are hot at the end of the season.
Baseball: where the boys of summer play the October classic in November.
And the trend in sports arenas is fewer seats for the “great unwashed” and more skyboxes and pay for view TV channels.

I did that off my own head once. Completely unintentional. The other team had me surrounded and I just tossed the ball in hopes someone from my team would get it.-Turned out the toss was virtually straight up and one of my teammates did grab the pass off my head for a slam dunk.
