I can’t wait to get to the Fusco Brothers/J.C. Duffy version. And then in the style of Matt Groening in the Life in Hell days. Both are worthy challenges.
I’ve been enjoying the history, myself. It’s been interesting to watch the strip evolve. As of today’s sample, it’s starting to look more familiar, and like the Working Daze I know. As I’ve said before, I had no idea this strip was so old.
The artistic style here looks like Zits. I wonder if there might have been some cross-influence.
In this version, Mrs. Jensen reminds me of my paternal grandmother. Grandma didn’t smile much (didn’t like her dentures), but she laughed a lot. She was a hoot, and we miss her. Dry, deadpan sense of humor that she passed on to my dad.
Bear seems to have calmed down a little. Must have been Molly’s influence. Jay and the other woman look like they might be relations with the people in Zits.
Sue and Mrs. Jenson – two of my three favorite characters are up today (CJ being the other)! Sue is always distinctive by her earrings, though they usually are green (although Rita has obvious earrings in today’s color panel as well). I was always intrigued by “Zits”, never sure whether I liked it or not. Rita (or at least her distinctive hair style) is looking more like she had it in the Zakour/Miller days, when I vaguely remember first running across the strip in some newspaper that I didn’t regularly read.
This series has been absolutely brilliant, something to look forward to every Sunday. Seeing all the different styles and homages from Scott has been awesome. I’m going to be sorry to see it end, but I am curious to see the Noel version, Miller is the earliest I’ve seen to now.
I knew it! “Zit’s” is spoofed in this week’s “Working Daze.” I believe Jerry Scott and Mike Thompson ‘s work. I love this, and yet I don’t know who you will do next!

Love history. Seeing how a strip has evolved since its beginning has been really interesting.

Three more weeks. We have to cover the Zakour/Noel version, then the Zakour/Miller, and finally get to where I cam on board with John.
