I don’t think Sara and Jim are anyone we know. They’re brand new. :3 And considering that Wally does know how anthros are made, I think they might just be joining the party soon enough!

VOTE! Wait. No go vote and ponder this. Does Sarah like being tied up, or has she already gone through the change, so to speak, and in a mirror of Flask’s story, they want to hold one another. Hmmm, she mutated into a reasonably sized person, and he mutates into tiny crawfish. Oh Jim and Sara, be careful, maybe your love was never meant to be.

. Vote ENDTOWN . Vote Doc Rat . Vote Hubris . Vote Kevin and Kell . Sincerely, . JusSayin

Maybe they just want to get out of those suits without becoming monsters…? It’s not like the head topsiders would be free and forthcoming to their minions with any information they’ve collected that would empower people to “leave the firm”, is it?

Well, you see, Mr. Topsider, you already are an “Anthro.” Linguistically speaking, that is. Since, well, “Anthro” means “Person” and notably “human.” ;)

No, really, Sarah appears to still be tied up, like the suit won’t work its magic for her. Or the suits could be dangerously low on power, condemning them to death when all the body life support systems stop working. I’m gonna bet Sarah is a known typhoid mary, the suit will only do so much for her, and Jim wants to be close to her. Why do birds suddenly appear, everytime, she is near? Just like Jim, they long to be, close to her.

I think we can rule out that Jim the Topsider (and maybe wannabe mutant) is Lyn from the opening sequence. At least I think we can rule it out…

As I remember the transformation is not always a viable anthro. I remember a loud scream and a plea to be killed.

Ah, it’s great to see that we’ve had what… 5+ years of the END OF THE WORLD, and people haven’t spent 2 minutes actually researching WHY stuff happens in this new world from the comfort of their super-advanced death suits. Too busy shooting stuff, I guess.

The way Jim phrases and emphasizes the question indicates he thinks it’s a process that can be directed. Not being turned into an anthro, but BECOMING an anthro. We don’t know yet whether the result is due to whatever creature’s DNA hits you first, or if it’s subconsciously what animal you’re most like or like most.If it’s DNA, good luck. If it’s psychological, maybe some day it can be controlled through hypnosis, but not today.Whether you’re conscious or not may determine how many genomes can invade at once. If you’re unconscious, only one can get in, like sperm with an egg. Conscious, any and all can get in and a monster results from them all activating at once. Drugged, maybe just a few get in and activate so you get a limited monster like Cooper.

Well… When you consider how many Topsiders were mutated when Flask made her great escape, it would make some wonder what it would take to become an anthro.

My WAG is that APEX built the thing as an ultimate “final solution”, using an ideological filter to impose some kind of eugenic or new and improved morphology on their true believers. But, instead, it latches onto the victim’s psychology of the moment and does the wild and wacky morph. That’s also my WAG for why the topsiders “examine” any immune subjects, to see if any of their intended viral results happened.

I do not think he is talking about physically. Flask knew. I am sure the topsiders know.

Now how does one mentally become an anthro/animal….. That is how I would take the question. As Wally had to face that himself, being a cat chasing a mouse…. embracing that is who is now. Letting go of the human part.

Just my $0.02 on the strip.

Too bad if they are knocked out again, the suits breached and one becomes anthro while the other human mutant.
