Okay. That’s not something I’d noticed before. Holly healed faster than I would have expected for a fracture. I had assumed Wally made the wrong diagnosis and it was actually just a dislocated elbow joint. But if it WAS a fracture, then Holly has certainly mended very quickly. So I guess the Topsider is a human with cancer, who would be prepared to become an adorable little racoon without cancer.
Has anyone any experience or knowlege of a Patreon Account? Tekara posted a question yesterday about the possibility of a Patreon Account Aaron could draw upon every month for bills and supplies. It seems possible it could also be used to fund future special art or prints. Also, how many would be interested in helping Aaron on a regular basis, whether it would be $5 or $50 contribution on a daily, weekly or monthly basis? ___________________________

I am betting the Topsiders are starting to suffer for their enclosed lifestyle. And these two have a terminal illness they hope becoming anthro will cure. Could also show why the Toppers are more aggressive and ruthless against the Anthros.
VOTE: And please share feedback about setting up a Patreon Account for Aaron, or other ideas. Depending on the house rake, perhaps Aaron could use Patreon or Kickstarter for books 5 and 6, or even a series of animated films, yeah I know, most of the cels would have to be outsourced, but TSOJ probably has a trashbin full of artists offering animation services. Plus, it introduces the East to Endtown, like The Simpsons, and they are doing fairly well.I really am interested in feedback, and if gocomics crashes under ideas for Aaron, he has perfectly good, underutilised websites at WWW.Endtown.com, and WWW.aaronneathery.org. I think he should sell prepper gear, potassium iodide tablets, life extension schemes and the like on those websites, but first he needs consistent pageviews, clickthroughs, and purchases to increase the value of selling space on those sites. .

Since the passage of time is not clearly defined here it’s not surprising that this was not obvious before. Prior to this instance with Holly, Wally is really the only person we’ve followed through an injury. (Except for the time Allgood walked around forever with the bandage on his head.) So maybe it’s true. Curiouser and curiouser…. ;-)
One can see a great deal, but one can’t see the back of one’s head. Wally never noticed anthro healing because he was too busy surviving. (Wonder if Mallard noticed?)
Well, good news, the Insurance Industry won’t have to worry about these fuzzy, super-healing freeloaders not buying their products… because it’s the apocalypse.

Jenner,Could you think back to Wally’s run in with Cliff’s blackjack? Does it seem to you like he recovered fairly quickly from that head injury? I’ve looked back at Book 3 (pages 45-58) and it seems like Wally was up on his feet after about 48-72 hours bed rest without medicine. Is this that abnormal for a head injury?
This raises an interesting question. How do Jim and Sarah know? Even if mutants like Wally heal more quickly than humans, it does take time and I don’t believe its normal for Topsiders to spend much time around any particular mutant.A testing program, where anthros are injured and their healing monitored is likely but would Topsider leadership permit the rank and file to know of the results? After all, the fact that mutants heal quickly would undermine the whole super perfect specimens of humanity image that the TS do their best to cultivate. I suspect that if Jim and Sarah learned about this from a TS program they are either fairly high ranking TS (like Flask) or picked it up through unapproved means. The other possibility is that they had some fairly long term experience with a particular mutant in the field.
In the strip exactly 2 years ago, the newly-mutated Linda Kowalski introduced herself to the gloating Topsider. He did not seem surprised that she had not become a monster. Also healig is not the same as regeneration. Flask’s tail did not grow back.
The Topsider’s ability to harvest heads in the field like they almost did to Holly would indicate the knowledge is common and was relied on to enable the Topsiders to use the heads for their purposes.
All this adds more weight to the notion that the virus was a eugenic/political attack gone wrong. Instead of selecting for ideology and then uber-menching the survivors.
I’ve gone back to when Holly came out of the backpack, and the only time she is bracing herself up on her arm, it is her uninjured RIGHT arm (you can still see the other in the sling). Kinda begs the question of WHEN would “Jim” have seen her brace herself up on herself up on the injured arm?
I’m in agreement that it is most likely the woman who is most likely ill and mutating is her only prospect of living. Her partner seems only very reluctant to join her but for his involvement with her. He’s otherwise cocksure of himself and being disrespectful of the “animals” in trying to get what she wants.
New theory: Jim and Sara are a couple with a baby (or young child), and that baby is ill. Rather than watch it die they want to have it “evolve” into an anthro, and are hoping Wally & Holly will adopt it because they know it’d never be allowed to live topside. Just a thought…
The position Jim the Topsider has assumed in the last panel is extremely Aaron Marx….but I don’t really want it to be him very badly. I mean, I like Marx, but I’m okay with plain ol’ Jim.

Sorry to be irreverent, but this strip is just such a great mix of the comic and the macabre.
