I think that realistically it is more likely that it would be men with wives and girlfriends that would be smashing the displays for this bogus holiday.
That was a great joke a few decades ago, but if her assumption was that he last had sex 59 years ago, he would be at least 75 or 80 now and the whole conversation would be highly unlikely.
I quite agree, though it’s also true that women don’t like “to be told what to do and when to do it” either. And I’m not just talking about Valentine’s Day; it applies to all situations where you’re expected to do certain things whether you want to or not, for no better reason except that they ‘should’ be done, even when they make no sense. Regardless of whether you’re male or female, imposed obligations of any kind suck; life would be better year around if everyone would quit ‘shoulding’ on each other, and themselves, too.
