What was that I saw? Justin Bieber is a “misguided young man” for drunken drag racing and resisting arrest. Congressman Mike Grimm “behaved inappropriately” when he threatened to throw a reporter off a third story balcony. Richard Sherman was called “thug” for getting all excited about making the play of his life and sending the Seahawks to the Super Bowl.

The problem was – and I say this as a lifelong 49er fan – that Sherman tried to shake Crabtree’s hand and Crabtree punched it away. This happened about a minute before the interview. I’d have been angry too.

A cornerback trash-talked an opposing player? Stop the presses! We have to change the headline! Such a thing has never happened. If he was black, we could even call him a thug. A white guy? Just asserting himself.
