They are not daunted by the idea of revolution since they believe they own the police and military – and they’re probably right about that. World-wide plagues and so on will not touch them on their islands of steel. They expect some revolts but believe that they have planned for their suppression.
Why shouldn’t somebody be able and willing to work hard to earn an obscene amount of money to then pass along to his family? As long as that money is earned and not stolen, folks should have no problem with this. Using the force of government to steal what was earned (even if not earned directly by the guy currently in lawful possession) in order to play Robin Hood is just wrong and far more wasteful and evil.
