Hey… I can still stay up and be on the computer till 3 and 4 in the morning… those young whippersnappers have nothing on me…
Well, except for the fact that they’re back at their desks again sometime before 1pm the next day…. sigh….

Anyway… I seldom read or comment in this forum any more, so I didn’t realise so many people commented back to me, day before yesterday…
I would have said “thanks” and “you’re very welcome” to those who liked or thanked me for my post ….(t’weren’t nothin’… pretty literally)…And thank you to DoonesburyFollower and slworona for the links.
Interesting! I’d forgotten the mention of siblings for JJ…. I think that idea got dropped.
I’d also forgotten how abruptly Joanie’s story started, and how short was the original arc, between her hopping on Mike’s motorcycle and becoming ensconced at Walden.. ..
Now I want to revisit the reconciliation, when she meets up with JJ, whom she’d left behind.
And finally… Dr. Dan….thanks for asking..but no, my avatar isn’t a Crumb, though others have asked.
Actually, it was a gift…As I explain on my profile page,it was drawn especially for me by Rodd Perry, the former Brevity artist, more or less from a photo of me… very more or less…. in 2011, when we fans from Comics.com “moved” here….
I was surprised and I’m still grateful.

Well, SS, you came along at a time when many of us won’t be commenting here except on Sundays, since that is supposed to be when we will see fresh material in the coming months.

Some folks accuse others of hate if they have a different opinion. Even if they are supporters of the very venue they are commenting on. Good luck to those who choose to post here.

Mr. Trudeau and I are on the opposite sides of the political spectrum, but I still enjoy his sense of humor. Especially, issues such as the aging workforce, Toggle’s rehab and marriage to Drew and of course the Red Rascal.
Our youth-oriented culture pushes older people (I’m 53) out of the way and assumes they (or us) couldn’t possibly know anything.
Experience is valuable as is historical perspective. How many know of the startling parallels between the financial panic of 1837 and the crash of 2008? During the 1830’s, like the mid 2000’s, there was rapid inflation of land/property values based on market speculation. Banks extended credit to individuals who had no assets other than questionable deeds to vast tracts of “western land” (at that time still east of the Miss. River). Large Eastern banks began calling in loans from the regional banks demanding payment in full and in specie (Guido wants his money now). Thousands defaulted and became bankrupt and the economy languished for another 10 years for want of credit. Those who lived high on speculative assets were brought low.
Sound familiar? Lesson, study history to avoid repeat mistakes and visit a nursing home – you’ll hear more wisdom in one hour than a week with the skateboard crowd.

We may be having reruns (which is certainly Garry’s right), but (1) at my age I’ve forgotten a lot of the little points, or even the big ones, and (2) the comments are fresh. Some of them are very fresh!

You noticed that, did you?It reminds me of the statementI CAN’T STAND INTOLERANCE?.( I wonder if they spoke of “predatory lenders” back then too. I remember Jacksonblamed things on bakers whenever he wasn’t busy stealing from American Indians.)

Bankers not bakers

And a Jewish lady used to feed Adolph Hitler when he was destitute. He never thanked her but she liked to see how he attacked his food.

The way I see it they weren’t conservatives since people like Jackson had no problem with unbridled power over people up to and including ignoring the rulings of the Supreme Court and passing unconstitutional laws — thereby breaking the law — for theft..And let us not forget introducing the Spoils System which paid off supporters, ignored the protests of any and all minorities and abandoned the concept of public service as a sacred duty, rather as a chance at the hog trough..I wouldn’t consider THAT conservative unless your definition of “conservative” is more in line with “bad guy” or “not MY guy”.
