One summer, my grandpa told me not to worry about bees—“they won’t sting this month.” Of course he told me that evening “but they’ll sure sting you.” Didn’t trust much he said to me after that………
Wow, sounds yummy! I’ll try to find it here in Florida. Calamondin trees grow here in Florida, and a bakery called “Calamondin Café” in Fort Myers (while not a real Cafe) ships baked-goods and jams and other calamondin items all over the world. I’ll search to find an outlet for soupsop. Tastes like strawberries and pineapple? I can’t wait. Thank you!
I only knew one of my grandfathers and he died when I was quite young. But I still remember some of the things we did together when I visited and I’m 76 now.
Actually I don’t think I have ever had a “Kumquat.”I do not recall ever even seeing one . . . . I must have lead a sheltered life.I went and looked them up, they look like a small, oblong orange. Wonder what they taste like?
I know this story. My mother told it to me when we were driving to NC from CA in 1960. The little kumquat wants to grow up to be a big belly-button (navel) orange like his parents! Thanks so much for a strip that is true to its roots and for giving my husband and I a chance to see our relationship in print. We get so many laughs from your strip.

I wonder what false facts my grampa said sending me on my merry way to the bullying from those that knew better?

My grand kids have children now and my aches and pains seem to vanish when my great grand kids come to play or ask for my know how.
