I think I remember a story from my late mother that she once owned a cat before my birth that got badly injured under the car hood of a stranger’s car wherein it took a nap.

Modern cars don’t have distributors, much less the cap. Gone are the days of distributors, points and condensers. As well as carburetors. And I for one say, Hallelujah.

By the way, the car would NOT go “click” if the cap was removed. The starter motor would still turn the engine over, just no ignition of the fuel.

Typical cat! Not only do they do exactly what they want, they often resort to obstructionism to get their way.

I started my VW Scirocco many years ago and there was a thump and then the check engine light went on.I lifted the hood and there was a squirrel splattered all over and tangled in the fan belt.

Hubby collects classic cars, we still have several with distributors, points and condensers as well as carburetors. We never have to take them to a mechanic, he does all the work
