Baldo by Hector D. Cantú and Carlos Castellanos for March 12, 2014
Transcript:
Baldo: My English teacher has it in for me. Dad: Why do you say that? Baldo: She keeps reading my essays to the whole class! Dad: That's not nice. Baldo: It's embarrassing. Dad: Tell, me exactly what she's saying and I'll call her right now. Baldo: She says I'm talented, creative and everyone should work as hard as I do.

Whoa! Jaw drop and bulged-out eyes from Gracie! To think she was the smart one.

Gracie isn’t smarter than Baldo, but she is more ambitious.

Ambitious and obnoxious are not antonyms.
Better than an obnoxious slug which have too many of in the public eye..
Baldo is artistic in two styles of communication media – visually and verbally.
Why does it surprise anyone he is as gifted as Gracie just in different formats.
As for Gracie’s shocked expression – well, Jesus had the biggest critics in his family – his siblings thought he was crazy. Your family often is your biggest hurdle in life.
Maybe she will learn something life lesson oriented from this. Even if these aren’t real people, just cartoon characters…
Gracias,

Jesus had no siblings. Clearly your understanding of Aramaic is lacking.

Jesus had siblings ,—- The Gospel of Mark 6:3 and the Gospel of Matthew 13:55-56 state that a James, a Joseph or Joses, a Judas, and a Simon were the brothers of Jesus, the son of Mary. The same verses also mention unnamed sisters of Jesus.

There are different types of intelligence. It would appear Baldo is high on the creative intelligence, and verbal scales, perhaps less so in math and science, which might be Gracie’s strengths. Gracie is also a bit more driven. Sergio is a good Dad and a good role model to both of them.

The only explanation is that Gracie is having a nightmare

This comic does point out the problems teens have with being different. Better for the teacher to put her assasment on his paper or to his parents, than to point him out to the class.

I really want to put a big ol pile of whip cream on Baldo’s constant open up palm and smack his face with it! Open palms all the time here!

Sherlock Holmes (gee – twice in two days) said that his brother Mycroft was smarter, but lacked the energy to run around investigating things. Besides – as revealed later – he was too busy managing the entire British government.
