Baldo by Hector D. Cantú and Carlos Castellanos for March 13, 2014
Transcript:
Dad: Baldo, it's good to see you writing so much. Baldo: Well, ever since Miss Lopez told the class I'm a talented writer, I'm under lots of pressure. Baldo: Mijo, just do what you always do before you write a paper... Dad: Obviously it's working! Dad: Where are you going? Baldo: I'm playing video games and drinking sodas till 2 in the morning, then writing the first thing that pops into my head.

What the spouses of writers and other creative people will never understand is when the writer is staring out the window, s/he is actually hard at work.

My writing process in college started with a beer and a joint. All A’s, all the time. One B sneaked in, don’t know how.

There’s the dictionary, then there’s everyday speech. In my part of the Southwest, the word is “hito”.

@JpuzzlewhizIt’s basically a contraction of Mi Hijo (my son).

“Mijo” is usually the way “mi hijo” (my son) is pronounced in everyday speech. Remember that the “h” is silent in Spanish and the two "i"’s run together to create “mijo”.
