Our esteemed artist, author, storyteller extraordinaire is celebrating his birthday today. He may not want the extra attention, but I feel we ought to wish him a specially HappyBirthday, with many wishes for more and better to come. May the next years bring good health, great wealth and happiness fitting to one so talented. To Him who brings such a range of emotion to those of us here with each day’s offering, I wish continued and ever increasing success in the coming years, HAPPY BIRTHDAY AARON!

In response to the discussion, I would guess that through experimentation on mutant captives, the topsiders would know whether or not mutation cures cancer. These two seem savvy enough that they’d know for sure before making such a huge descision.

Felicitations upon the anniversary of the day you first drew breath, most beloved story-weaver. May many more follow.

I was betting on it being cancer as well. Probably inoperable, not the least because you’d need to remove those suits in order to perform the operation, meaning you’d need a mutation-proof clean room.

I feel that if it was really cancer or another terminal disease, the suit would have detected it, and the Topsiders would have dealt with the genetic defect the way they are known to do… I suppose Sarah and Jim could have escaped before the other Topsiders got to her, but I doubt it… that being said, I don’t think they’re spies, either…

(Also, a very happy birthday to one heck of an author!)

In Honor of Aaron Neathery’s birthday, I request everyone who can, without harming themselves, head over to the Endtown Auction and and Donation Portal. Bid on auctions if you can, as much as you can. Look through previous months to choose a print or some prints you would like to purchase, especially with that great savings on shipping.

Write to aaronneathery@gmail.com personally to arrange for your print purchase, and/or to purchase Endtown books 3 & 4, and arrange the details. Allow me to call your attention to the donate button at the auction site. Might I remind you, we are in the Lenten season, a time of sacrifice. This season conveniently falls before summer, so we can give up fattening treats and send half the money to Aaron. You do not have to be Catholic to benefit from sacrificing, as it builds psychological and spiritual strength, and reminds us:

You can’t always get what you want,

You can remember those who can’t have a triple chocolate mocha latte, with raspberry syrup and whipped cream whenever they want one, and realise we are not just one universal family, but we are all simply one. Seeing that you will be saving money during this time of year, why not spend some of it to keep providing Endtown, and Holly and Wally with the resources they need to not just survive, but to flourish. It is difficult to send a SixBucks coffee to starving children in Kenya, but with our help, someday Aaron Neathery’s talent can be sent to the most deprived regions. And Please Vote, all weekend long. For Endtown and Doc Rat at TopWebComics . Vote ENDTOWN

. Vote Doc Rat . Vote Hubris. . Vote Kevin and Kell . Sincerely, . JusSayin

A very Happy Birthday to Aaron. Nice to see these topsiders mission was simple, post apocalyptic Obamacare. The only catch is you have to be unconscious and you don’t get to choose what you become. I find it amazing, that despite the technological and medical superiority of the topsiders they lack the ability to cure cancer, or stop the virus.

This revelation makes me wonder if it will turn out that the whole mutagenic virus began as an attempt to improve healing or regenerate lost limbs like certain animals can.

I don’t get to read the comments daily, so apologies if this has already been discussed to death.

The more I think about it, the more sure that being unconscious isn’t in itself what helps you mutate into an animal form, but the fact that you’re relaxed. What if people who mutate while conscious only turn into those monsters because that’s what they’re anticipating will happen and they are panicking. What if the mutations draw their influences on the thoughts and feelings of the individual, and how they see themselves rather than it being random.

I know…….that’s why the concrete is used….(haha).Well with T virus it was primarily a weapon creator. Infect folks to make them into large unstoppable killing machines. This virus in Endtown story may have become just that.Without a back story I venture a guess that APEX the great arms supplier was working on stuff. Lets say you have a small country. You need a big army. Not enough population to mount a major war and WHY should humans die when you can send in lets say animals. What say you try to create a drug or such to make animals take on human attributes. With that you can create an army of lets say RATS. Train them to be obedient and fearless. Now what if the virus either accidently or on purpose like sabotage got released into the environment. The virus mutates animals to become more human and humans into animals or worse other things. Its only speculation but the virus had to have a reason to be created and it was first out there before Zero weapons so I don’t believe it is a side effect of Amesworth radiation. Another plausible is it was an attempt at reversing radiation exposure causing the deaths from Disease X. Side effects were either monsterous or anthromorphic depending.Several ways to explore with a full author background back story. May come one day maybe not. How long did it take to get to Episode 1 in Star Wars….??Have a good day, catch you all later.

I’m happy to hear you know about Hero Rats! They use Gambian pouched rats.that in hamsters have cheeck pouches.they are about 2 times the size of the domesticated rat, big enough that they can be trained to use a toilet. I would love to see troupes of rats do Celtic dancing, myself.

Addendum: The little rat harnesses on APOPO’s homepage I cited in my previous entry, does look like it could support a tutu. Wabbit’s info was good, and perhaps Sharon Browne of Riverdance note could organise a troupe, if she isn’t too busy with Celtic Thunder. David Downes, musical director of Riverdance and co-creator of Celtic Woman, is about launch a new Celtic Woman Tour, and now the singers will move more and there may be a dance troupe accompanying them. Mairèad the fiddler is the only original female on this tour, but it looks like Lisa Lambe will return. I’ll have to wait, they’ll be on PBS, and the DVDs will be available. So Riverdance and other Celtic/Gaelic dances are on YouTube, and soon segments from the new CW Emerald Tour will show up. I’ve seen some promises, and it looks to be an improvement in terms of movement over previous productions. Now I am JusRamblin

It doesn’t need mutant healing to cure cancer, the transformation alone might do itSince mutation involves massive cellular change (to the point that one wonders how any memory is retained, other than IOAC), the mutation process itself is a likely candidate for removing any abnormal cells, such as cancer. For that matter, any issues of damaged organs or clogged arteries should also be fixed by the mutation transformation. In its most extreme case, it might even act as a bit of a fountain of youth, regenerating the body and its organs to a like-new condition.

If their memories are fading, in a few hours or days, will Jim and Sarah even remember being Topsiders?#(I had a raccoon crawl up and lie down next to my house last summer—-spotted it while mowing the lawn, thought it was dead, and found it wasn’t when I nudged it with my foot. The next day it was dead, though…)

Jason, here in my part of Australia, we have brush-tail possums, which occupy a similar niche to raccoons, except that they are more arboreal. They will cross the roads by tight-rope-walking the power cables. When two are trying to cross at the same time in opposite directions, they make the most dreadful noises at each other. And sometimes they fall onto the road and get hurt or die.
