Let me write down the recipe for boiling water..When my MIL passed away, there were 11 boxes of lime jello and 14 cans of pineapple in her cupboard. Its become a family “story”!
Joy must be very precise with Verla. Get a spoon. Hold it by the smaller end. And then stir for an hour? Ah, it’s the Jell-O recipe she saw on that TV show, “How to Please Your Hubby.”
Mix the Jello for an hour?Must be really smooth…I just hate lumpy Jello, don’t you?
My question is…. without anything but Jello powder and water, how did she make it striped? Is the package so out of date it separated into its petrochemical components?
X … anything with the Pennys in it should be rated inappropriate for children…why warp their delicate minds?
I haven’t made Jello in years, but stripes are entirely possible by chilling it in layers. That is one thing my mother excelled in (and took great pride, like Joy). She used pineapple slices, bananas and cherries to make patterns around the edges and top/bottom; they would float out of place unless the jello was cooled by layers (which would also allow mixed colors).
Mom was known to burn TV dinners, so not far from Joy’s level of expertise That’s why I started cooking very young.

Ah, yes. The Tupperware Jello mold/ring. Joy probably isn’t a good enough cook yet to use Fruit Cocktail in the recipe.

It’s hard to make Jello.. No instructions n the box and Joy needs to write it down for Verl. I thought I had a short memory.
Hay Burl (snap, snap) go down stairs and get a pen for me, and don’t forget the paper…..

I would never refer to Jello as “gourmet food”

I’m not so fussed about the stripes. But I am a little worried about black jello@!

I’ve seen the joke about making gourmet food on The Dinette Set before. I think it involved jello then, also.
