Yes! I finished my crossword puzzle! She voluntarily spends hours dealing with spellings and definitions. Guess she's too old to remember how bad homework stinks.
I once spent and entire year doing the crossword in every people magazine for the year. I was in the middle of a family crisis and it gave my mind something else to concentrate on.
Once the crisis was over I have never been able to complete one since. Seems like for that one year my mind was more sharp and my memory was exceptional……..then it fell apart again. lol
I’ve known people who are trying to learn English, and suggested that they start doing crossword puzzles. Easy ones at first and moving on to more difficult ones. Works pretty good.
bigal666: I used the same method while in Canada to learn about BC history and geography. They were so simple that someone said his kid did them in ink, while another retorter said his did them in a typewriter. I have had no interest in crosswords since.
I moslty just do Sunday crosswords. Their more elaborate themes (compared to dailies, which may not even have one) give me the “Aha!” moments I seek when doing puzzles.
