The cow is Stan the bull from “The Barn” comic strip. One of my faves!

The Main guy in the panel is Lee Salem. Mr. Salem is Lee Salem, the head of Universal UClick.

And he used to be head editor, before John Glynn, and have the final word in launching new strips.

Coincidentally, Alice Otterloop makes a cameo appearance in today’s Big Nate.

I agree, Far Side cow. You can tell by the eyes.

With the possible exception of “Cathy,” these are all strips that have gone totally or mostly into reruns. There are no new “For Better or Worse,” “Calvin and Hobbes,” “Far Side,” or “Cul de Sac” strips, and “Doonesbury” is nothing but very old reruns Monday through Saturday.These strips are as stale as the “Peanuts” reruns.

It isn’t about whether Mark likes these cartoonists or not.

These are all strips originally chosen for syndication and/or edited by Lee Salem!

That’s why the eye doctor says he has an eye for talent. He was, and maybe still is, Garry Trudeau’s editor, for many years.Maybe he just retired or something, cos this is a tribute.I don’t think Mark is just sucking up… LOL!

To be fair, Lee also has an eye for dreck given that some strips just aren’t as good. Being a bit selective here.
