Then there’s the death of a common statement….“We don’t get winters like we did when I was a kid..” You will never, ever, hear that phase again in your lifetime….
no, I’ve come to the conclusion that this year there will be no summer. Just day upon day upon day upon day of temperatures between 20 and 40 degrees……glum and despair are where we that find ourselves in the eternal darkness of winter where there will be weeping and the gnashing of teeth (and big profits for dentists to repair all those gnashed teeth)
Like heck its ‘spring’. I agree with Danae, that snow has gota go away…another time and space dilemma, Albert Einstein was too correct…dis climate warming gives me da sniffles.
It’s in my mind that Vernor’s Equi-Nox was a Michigan- sourced formula to stop engine knock, but with the addition of some ginger and carbonation, it wound up making a good mixer with some Canadian Club and ice. Or were they just pulling my leg? Yoopers, y’know..
But you forgot the best part:The city had put away all the salt spreaders & plows for the season in March, that year. The next year, they kept them ready until July! I know that as I lived across the alley from a city truck storage facility [it was an old streetcar barn, now gone].
Let’s see: Today is Thursday and approaching 60F here in VA. Last Saturday it made it to 70F. In between we had 10 inches of snow on Monday and freezing rain yesterday morning. There is nothing like variety. Are those daffodils I see, or yo yos?

The planetary tilt: it’s the reason for the season!(Think Australia’s ready to see what THEIR winter is going to be like?)

‘…for everything there is a season…’ it just doesn’t say the season will arrive on time.

Almost everything was rear-wheel drive then. That’s why, at college in Troy NY, everyone had a cinderblock in their trunk.

I believe the correct astronomical term is “northward equinox”. Come September we’ll have the “southward equinox”.

We are between ice ages where I am at the moment. Haven’t had snow for a week, none due for another week.
I’m having a tough time dealing with the lack of snow and ice and the above freezing temperatures.

The Climate gives, the Climate takes. If the rain returns to my western US home, the Sand Trout will complain. :-)

In 1966 I recall a blizzard snow the morning of April 1st. This is how Overland Park KS celebrated spring that year. But it was soon melted off.

Climate change, dodo. And if you don’t think the climate patterns are changing you haven’t been paying attention.
