Red and Rover by Brian Basset for March 25, 2014
Transcript:
I'm so confused. They say that March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. Yet the Bible says, the lion and the lamb shall lie down together. And Uncle Jack says the Detroit Lions often lie down and play like lambs when the season's long in the tooth and the weather's colder than a dog's nose. Meteorologically, metaphorically speaking, of course.

The Gospel according to Uncle Jack seems to hit the nail on the head!

In those days, they were the Detroit Possums – they played dead at home, and got killed on the road.

As for the Detroit Lions, they lie down any time and place they feel – not just on Broadway.

@Francis, you could insert the Mariners into your line too. Thanks for the laugh.

That is a popular misquote. Here is the correct one:“The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, and the calf and the lion and the fattened calf together; and a little child shall lead them.”Isaiah 11:6

In Texas, March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lion. Then April comes in like a lion and goes out like a lion. They May . . . and so on and so on. Weather doesn’t get very nice until November.
