There actually was a Salvador Deli in Tulsa a decade or so ago. The decor was neat, but not really surreal. The owner told me that the Dali estate sent a representative to check it out and see whether there was an infringement. Anyway, the sandwiches were nothing special, but that deli had really, really good cookies.
I live in Corpus Christi, and several years ago there were a couple of delis here — the real, old-fashioned kind. One was a little mom-and-pop deli and they served a pastrami on rye that was to die for!
