I love the contrast, of who WE imprison, as opposed to who THEY imprison.

Egads, I actually remember the day when this particular strip ran in the papers. Of course, back then Doonesbury was required for all college students (& millions more) who weren’t members of the Young Republicans. What a time it was! So grateful that that those under 40 are getting to see what we read every day.

Just so we can avoid doing all the research and compilation, can we have a list of all the groups of people you disparage, sorted by physical appearance and lifestyle choices?

The number you imprison is certainly surprising, the fact that you still judicially kill some of them is unbelievable from a European context. Capital punishment (in peacetime) was abolished in the UK nearly half a century ago. Fortunately the campaign started over here by Reprieve (which I have been happy to donate to regularly) that lobbies European drug companies to deny US states supplies of drugs for lethal injections seems to be having a lot of success.

Interesting choice of strips — G.T. joining in the Cold War rhetoric, just when we are gearing up to demonize Putin over the Ukraine mess. Deja vu all over again….

Amazing, so much crap going on with the present administration and all Trudeau can do is run Nixon reruns. Must be nice to be a in denial liberal.

Consider the fact that WE imprison criminals. We select our law makers, our judges, our enforcers. We decide if our laws were broken and what the punishment will be.Maybe we have a high ratio of criminals compared to more homogeneous populations.Maybe we are more serious about solving crime. We do not arrest, try, convict, sentence people based on their politics, so no, they are not political prisoners. They are criminals. Most of them are criminals who have hurt the helpless..Still, in the interest of international cooperation, I propose we allow any nation which wants to adopt our murderers, rapists, criminal bankers to have them based on the promise they keep them and accept responsibility for their actions..WIN/WIN

Why not send criminals to the island of Cuba, to mingle with the population, as they did to us?

Every outlaw chooses to break the law,but despite there being no basic difference, some folks have a culture which encourages criminal behavior..i don’t know why you mention “not white” because Asiatics are not prone to criminal behavior and I don’t understand why you think they are.
