I am 66, and love to read so much that, as a kid I walked and read the book I was currently reading. I never walked into anything or fell down. Which is odd, considering that I am naturally clumsy, and fall a lot when NOT reading and walking.
i don’t even need a smartphone to do that. i like to think and walk. when i am really focused, i have very little knowledge of what is going on around me.
I really didn’t get this one until Joe explained it. apparently I wasn’t the only one.Ever now and again JJ throws a curve ball that zings right over my head.
Perfect example of distraction. If a pedestrian can be that unaware of surroundings to walk right past their own home AND the person they’ve been married to for decades; imagine what happens when idiots use their cell phones while driving.

Well Arlo was blocking her view of the entrance to be fair. Not that she was really looking or anything.

Walking past your own house isn’t so bad. I’ve watched kids walk into poles while playing on devices.

I just want to know what she’s reading; it must be awesome!

I thought the joke was that Arlo is getting all his information from the mail box, and is waiting for Janice to come back around.

I’ve watched two distracted young men walk into poles & parking meters. The distractions were young ladies almost wearing summer clothes. ;-)
