I’m currently engaged in the “adult” version of this game with my former boss and state employer. The stakes are much higher, but in the end there is a ridiculous puerility to it. “He called me a name and wouldn’t apologize.” “That gives you the right to lie to everyone that he threatened to kill you and was about to go postal in order to get him terminated and publicly blacklisted on the internet for 4 years?” “Yes, because he was angry when he said it and I was afraid.” My response of “grow a pair lady” may not have gone over too well with the commission reviewing my case (except for one, he snickered), but at least I didn’t call her a name other than lady.
