You know Ma says dumb things just to irk the girls! And she is lucky, se doesn’t have to eat Joy’s “cooking”. Consisting of whatever frozen dinner Crust Foods had on closeout. (Joy thinks it doesn’t matter how old food is, so long as its frozen)
Blowout tire sale, everything slashed. Great messages. Also polish all silverplate. Which reminds me of an old collection of “Southern Granny” sayings. “Your smile and your bosom can be fake, but your pearls and your silver must be real.” I can just see some wizened granny on the porch, wearing a picture hat and gloves and drinking sweet tea, telling her grand daughter the secrets of the ages.
There are no drive-ins around here anymore. The days are too long during the summers and no one would go during the winters. So when the big theaters opened, the drive-ins closed.
I like to think Ma is being sarcastic here. She does like to poke Burl and sometimes Joy.. I don’t suppose they watch better adult movies at theaters do they?
I agree that Ma is lucky not to have dinner there also. Joy made a hungry mans pot roast and saw it only served 4 not 6
Strange that, although Julie now has them watching a more recent movie, they must still have no DVR, as they are arranging their lives around the TV schedule.

Get next week’s TV guide before they respond to an invitation that requires RSVP? What losers.
