Too bad mine came out in the washer. Never had the patience to put it back in.

I can’t ever remember seeing anyone who actually pulled the strings tight on a hoodie. Does anyone do that?

I carry a binder clip in really cold weather and use it to clamp the edges of my hood together under my chin. No hat needed to keep it off your face and it’s warmer.

Whenever the laces on my boots break, it’s always inconvenient. I just tie a square knot in it, and keep using it until I replace it, eventually. Works quite well for me. Don’t even need to fully unlace it so i save lots of time, too.

If the string in a hoodie, sweatpants, etc. comes out in the wash, attach one end of the string to a safety pin that will fit into the hole in the garment. You can then work the pin through the string channel in about a minute or less and then take it off when it comes out the other side. Also, put a small knot in the end of the string on both sides before you wash the clothes to keep the string in place.

Windy and/or snow days, that string is indispensable.

I too need the vent,if I do tie it it’s always loose.

Eons ago, dress coats came with a spare button sewn to the inside liner; a nice touch.

Field expedient repair.

That was the purpose of the fringes on rawhide garments. You could cut off a handy length of rawhide lace to make repairs on the trail.
