how about one that blocks annoying phone calls?

Do what I do — keep the cordless phone out in the garden with you.

Take that cell phone away from that worthless lump on the couch, and he’ll answer the phone.

No way I’m running for the phone, especially from outdoors. They can leave a message on the machine or hang up.

I don’t know of anyone who is sitting in the house who doesn’t answer the phone. Unless the caller id shows it’s an annoying telemarketer, supposed credit card warning (ie: scam), a call from some political office, or from someplace I don’t know anyone from. In those cases, I ignore the call.

It’s all a matter of education. Teach the kid to answer the phone if he’s inside the house while you are outside working. If he doesn’t comply with the rule, send him outside to do the gardening while you stay inside sitting in the couch. Simple as that.
