Legionnaires’ disease is transmitted by inhaling airborne water droplets, not by drinking from flowing water (even if it does contain the Legionella pneumophila bacteria); the acidic environment in the stomach kills it. The bacteria grows in temperatures between 77 and 113 °F, so if the water is cooled, it is safe. If it is a chilled drinking fountain or bubbler you are drinking from, you can put your paranoia torest.

The water droplets that contained Legionaire’s disease came from air conditioner condensation.

I use bottled water – bottled from my own tap. Someone seeing me would assume it was bought though.
