Tarzan will get away, because soon LaSalle and Peter Lorre will demonstrate that they failed to heed the Evil Overlord List, especially items 6 and 7:
6. I will not gloat over my enemies’ predicament before killing them.
7. When I’ve captured my adversary and he says, “Look, before you kill me, will you at least tell me what this is all about?” I’ll say, “No.” and shoot him. No, on second thought I’ll shoot him then say “No.”
That Louisiana LaSalle chap is really just too stupid, isn’t he? Now, will Florescu/Peter Lorre slip into long exposition giving Tarzan time to suss out his escape, or will he immediately inject the apeman with some Secret Formula stuff to render him a tame tiger?Either way, I am sure that in due course Tarzan will destroy the laboratory of evil, and LaSalle will meet his well-earned fate.
In the books, that blow would be remembered three volumes later as LaSalle discovers just how long a memory Tarzan actually has. Here, I give it five Sundays tops.
Maybe Florescu will want a vial or two of Tarzan’s blood to study. In this strip time Tarzan seems to be a world re known personality, recognized on sight.
