Hence the reason some of us don’t watch TV anymore. (Ok, except for Monk reruns and Good Eats. But I DVR those, so it’s almost like having them on DVD.)
And Nebulous, please don’t let blowhards like that spoil your opinion of the rest of us. We’re not all that bad, and Pat’ll have to answer to God for his words.
@jukeofurl - Robertson does not pay for the airtime on ABC Family.
Originally, “The Family Channel” was a 700 Club/Robertson property. It’s changed hands twice, with ABC being the current owner.
Both times there was a stipulation in the contract that Robertson gets free air time for his 700 Club, at that particular hour, in perpetuity.
On all other channels, the time is purchased.
So that’s why they don’t kick him off ABC Family – they can’t. Wish they could. Wish the foolish didn’t give him the money to buy all this airtime on the other channels. But…
May the boddhisatva Avalokitesvara allow the rainbow-jewelled drops of mercy flow from his fingertips and bring enlightenment to Pat Robertson and his ilk.
@Chrisnp: I’d buy one. Heck, I’d buy six: one for each day of the week. Sundays, I prefer to let Jesus, Isaiah, Micah, Amos, and sometimes Paul do my talking.
@namenamename: “In perpetuity?!” Does he actually expect to deliver messages from the grave? Wait, don’t answer that. He was the one who believed he had personally turned back a hurricane.
@Orgelspieler: How Christian of you, thank you! ;-)
i’ve always believed that there’s a special corner in that infernal place the nannybot won’t let us name for televangelists like him. they prey upon the gullible and the poor, and there is often very little about them that is truly Christian in the way i was always taught to understand Christianity.
I had all television service turned off more than four years ago and never miss it, the advertising or the moronic shows. Anything on television that I want to see is shortly available through Hulu, iTunes, PBS shopping, or Netflix, all at far less cost. Try it, you’ll like it.
I never watch that channel even though I watch tons of TV. I have 2 TiVos just for my main TV and bedroom. I want to see great classics of all types + fun cooking and design shows mostly, with just enough crime and justice thrown in, AND the morning news…
I tweeted not too long ago. I’ve gotten 1,500 hits on my site today from the link on the article. Over 1,000 of then are first time visitors. Sales today? $0.00. Webcomics suck. :)

If you think he’s wrong, maybe you check the other channels… There are way worse, spewing their garbage.

I’ve been thinking about having a T-shirt made with “Pat Robertson does not speak for this Christian” on it.

220 votes out of 73,619? Come on, people, you’re just not trying. As they say in Chicago, vote early, vote often!
That’s why you go to every cubicle in the office. But don’t let the voter patrol see you…
