That wouldn’t be a sharp idea.

I always wondered where the blades went, and did you have to empty it from time to time?

The house I grew up in had one of those. They must have simply accumulated in the wall, since the house had a basement.

And yes, I did contribute one or two to the collection. Archeologists rejoice!

The back of the blade container had a slot for them in the 70s as well. I remember trying to convince the neighbor kids the used-up container was a camera.

“To look sharp and feel sharp tooChoose the razor that is built for youLight [in tenor voice]! Regular [baritone]! Heavy [basso]!Only way to get a decent shave.

How’re you fixed for blades – better check! – Gillette Blue Blades, I mean." A Gillette cavalcade of sports is on the air.

For years, Gillette used congress to keep stainless steel blades off the market. The “blue blades” got dull fast.

I’ve seen those slots in medicine cabinets – never knew what they were for and never much thought about it. Another thing I’ve learned from reading the comics.

When I was a kid I used to wonder what would happen when the wall got filled up with used razor blades.

With the cost of the new fancy blades going up. I’m going to start doing the safety razor thing too. $14 for 4 fancy blades is way to much. Bleah!

Razor blades? Oh, I remember…….. As regards electric, my beard is so tough and my skin too soft to take the abrasion. I use hair clippers to trim.

Medicine cabinets are almost nonexistent in modern home construction. Our last home with a medicine cabinet and the slot was built in 1972. The cabinet was actually built into the wall between cut away studs. I think they are available for a “small” cost when building a new home.

Hey guys. If you are going for a bearded look, buy dog grooming shears. I’ve found them less expensive and the guards are more accurate that what you buy in the men’s grooming section.

The one I saw had a box behind the cabinet to hold the blades. You had to be very careful when you removed the container so you didn’t accidentally slice a finger with all the little rusty metal blades. Then you just replace the box, reset the cabinet in the wall and replace the screws in the wall.

I did a little searching and look what I found. I have remodeled a lot of old houses but never found a wall full of old razor blades. But it seems that is what they did. The blades just piled up in wall.

    razor slot

We had that kind of medicine cabinet when I was a kid and I was heartbroken to learn it was NOT a bank. There are still a few pennies in the wall of that old house. The razor slots were a good idea, actually. Nobody got cut taking out the trash.
