Laura: Adam, remember tomorrow's garbage day. Adam: Ugh. I hate garbage day in the winter. So cold...wind is merciless. Laura: Well, think about how those poor people on the back of the garbage truck feel. Adam: Yeah, but they get to wear those cool jumpsuits. And they get to see the underbelly of our neighborhood. Trash doesn't lie, Laura. Trash doesn't lie. Laura: If you keep your arms up like that someone's going to see your underbelly.

My garbage man stays in the warm cab and dumps the can with an arm that comes out from the side of the truck

No matter what part of town I live in, the G-Men come between 4 and 5. It’s like “Stomp” before sunrise.

Joe, look again — that underbelly’s hanging out right now.
But it’s a lot flatter than I would have expected.

adam, quit the reminiscing and take the garbage cans out to the curb
if you think those jumpsuits are so cool, why not apply for a job at the garbage company

Laura likes Adam because he’s a good father and he’s reliable. He’s also quite funny.

My least favorite part of garbage day is breaking down the cardboard and bundling it and wrapping it in twine. My wife has perfected the fine art of shopping online.

Doc Toon: we recycle better in California; out recycle carts are big and the trash ones small.
Adam: I bet you could buy a cool jumpsuit online.
All: The window (or at least the top half) doesn’t have any glass in it. (If it did, he couldn’t lean on it like that.)

Joe, “underbelly” is a non-specific term, and certainly will not be found in an anatomy textbook. What authority are you using for your statement that it necessarily lies below the waist? Adam is displaying unprotected flesh below his navel; that’s certainly the under-portion of the belly.

Again, Joe, what’s your source for that statement?
That’s not Webster’s definition, or Colliers’, or American Heritage, or Oxford, or any other reference I can find.
The underbelly is the “lower abdomen”; the “underside of a body or mass”; the “soft belly or underside of an animal”.
I’ve found many citations which support “the lower portion of the belly”; some may also support “the area beneath the belly”, but none which preclude the former in favor of the latter.
