A neighbor wanted extra work house-cleaning.My beloved said, “Go ahead.”She did not clean the floor, but tried to throw away our old pictures, books, toys and coins and then told everybody how messy our house was. We recovered much from the garbage, the toys went to the lady’s grandchildren, whereupon they were promptly destroyed and left lying in their front yard.
I still have nightmares about the ex-housemate who I found blithely throwing out stuff she had be specifically told we did not want to get rid of. Of course after seven years we still have a bunch of her junque in our basement and another friend has a garage filled with all the rest of her crap.
Opal must have been related to my dad. His “filing” system was to stash all documents and receipts in garbage bags. Of course, those trash bags were never intended to make it to the curb.

I’m just picturing tax time next year if Nelson had succeeded in dealing with his bag of opportunity.
