Rat: Yo, Fred. I'm here for the party. Fred: You didn't R.S.V.P. Rat: Who cares? Fred: Well, that's how we know how many guests to expect. Rat: What does that matter? Fred: Because that's how we know how much food to prepare. Rat: There's food behind you. I"ll eat that. Fred: But that means that someone who comes later won't get any food. Rat: Oh. Because you'll have too many guests? Fred: Exactly. Man: Hey, Fred. I'm here for the party. Stuck... In.... Rose bushes. Rat: Quick, lock the door before he gets my fruit salad.

Rat is a character.

You mean like cartoons where a very visibly straining Bugs Bunny is able to lift a weight labeled 500lb and he probably weighs 5 to 10lb himself? Or maybe the amazing Mystery Machine which in some episodes is much larger on the inside than on the outside. Cartoon physics are very unbelievable because they don’t rely on real physics.

Fred should of set a Rat trap !

Fred’s problem begins with his lack of assertiveness. He allows Rat to shove him around. Also, Mr. Purple Suit….Sherlock Watson has a good idea for a seven per cent solution….

I’ve posted some information over at Calvin and Hobbes today on the recent collaboration between Stephan Pastis and Bill Watterson, where Watterson drew some of the artwork for three Pearls Before Swine strips.

This isn’t a cartoon — it’s a window into an alternate universe; where the laws of physics are very different from those in this universe.
