AdamsFamily1MW: I’ve seen them come back in droves in my office building… never understood it back then, don’t understand them now… Unless you’re cold, why bother?
I got called in for a teachers conference when my daughter was in first grade cause her picture wasn’t right. The teacher had put up a yellow flower in a red pot. If the student didn’t color it exactly like she had it we got called in to talk to her. No creativity at all. It was sad. She also put the slower pupils in the back by the windows so she wasn’t bothered by them asking questions:-(
The problem is when they mix learning and art. It gets messy when they’re combined. What I mean is that the lesson is also about how well you can follow directions. That’s important to know.
This reminds me of when I first started school in kindergarten.
The teacher gave us an assignment to draw a picture that illustrated a specific song, but I forgot what song she told us to use, so I used a different song that I knew.
I remember that to this day because I got in trouble for doing it “wrong.”
At first I didn’t understand this comic at all, but now it’s getting clearer. I too thought it was an arithmetic lesson - after all, there are numbers on the blackboard - but as far as I could see, the teacher was telling them that 1 is greater than 2 which is greater than 3, which makes no sense…
Now, if I look at the blackboard, I think she’s telling them what steps to take and in what order: step 1 cut out largest circle, step 2 cut out smaller circle, and so on. Very uncreative.
So Michael just didn’t bother with the directions, but made it into what he wanted. I’m glad that the indoctrination in the educational system didn’t take for him.
Incidentally, if Picasso was in his Cubist period, he could hardly make a snowman consisting basically of three circles! Anyone ever seen a Cubist snowman? :^ )
Fits right in with the “no sheep left behind” program in the US for the past 9 years. Michael would drag his whole state down, the whole country down, and the teacher would probably lose her job. Do we even have art class in the states anymore?
It’s a sNOwman Hit and run. All that’s missing are some tire treds across the body. Someone call 911 - call Jack Frost - just don’t call the Heat Miser!

Yes, more reminiscent of Picasso. If it were Dali, the snowman would be melting.

First of all does that kid behind Lawernce have blue hair or really weird black hair.
Also they have ended the Lawernce and his mom story and about to enter the parent teacher conference story.

The teacher is trying to turn her students into sheep.
Baaaah, baaaah, watch me do what everyone else does.
Life is too short to be boring. Don’t be a sheep.
coffeeturtle almost 15 years ago
people spend hundreds of thousands of $$ for art that looks just as abstract. ;-)
summerdog86 almost 15 years ago
No. I say it’s not a math lesson.
And what did he do with the orange carrot nose?

Picasso started that same way…

you’re right howtheduck. I like the first strip where the teacher’s explaining the physics of snowmen.

The “carrot” is being used as a spike to hold the smallest ball on.
